GBS Roofing Completes Roof of York Street Train Station

— 02 September 2024

GBS Roofing has completed flat roofing works at the new York Street train station in Belfast.

Translink's new, £17 million station is close to Cityside retail park, and the new Ulster University campus in Belfast, where it will play an integral role in the growth of the university and wider regeneration of the local area.

The 800m2 flat roof required specialist waterproofing expertise, as well as the strictest health and safety management given the proximity to live, operational train tracks.

GBS Roofing completed the project using Sikaplan® G-15 polymeric membrane, a reinforced, multilayer system which is highly resistant to UV irradiation, wind exposure and other environmental influences. The membrane is also recyclable, an important factor in the new building's environmental credentials.

Barry Mairs, Managing Director, GBS Roofing said: "GBS Roofing is delighted to have completed this multi-million pound project for Grahams and Translink, which will enhance growth and prosperity in the area.

“The state-of-the-art building incorporated many environmental and sustainability features, including the roof design, which made the Sika membrane an excellent choice for waterproofing."
