GBS Roofing: Charity Partnership With Dementia NI

GBS Roofing has joined forces with Dementia NI to help the local charity raise funds, increase awareness of dementia and drive positive change for people living with dementia across Northern Ireland.

Dementia NI was formed in 2015 by five individuals living with a diagnosis of dementia. Their collective aim is to ensure people with dementia have their voices heard and have access to the best possible treatment and services.

Over the next 12 months, the team at GBS Roofing will embark on a series of fundraising events, starting next month with the Belfast City Marathon. A relay team of five runners from GBS Roofing will race against the Managing Director as he runs the full 26.2 mile course.

Commenting on the charity partnership, GBS Roofing’s Managing Director, Barry Mairs said: “In choosing a charity to support for the year, we were immediately drawn to Dementia NI. Today, almost everyone knows a person living with, or caring for a family member, with dementia.

“This small, local charity, founded by individuals living with dementia, is driving improvements in the standard of treatment available and ensuring that people with dementia are consulted about decisions relating to their care. With more than 20,000 people currently living with dementia in Northern Ireland - and the number expected to double by 2040 - this is no small task.

“At GBS Roofing, we believe the efforts of this great charity should be applauded and we are proud to focus our annual fundraising efforts on this worthy cause.”
